In Light of the Times

The world today is a target rich environment for a writer.  OneOldCop can spend time on the treadmill or stationary bike watching the morning shows and have twenty ideas about hot topics by the time workout is over.  Unfortunately, between oxygen deprivation and time constraints 99 percent of them seem to evaporate into thin air before they are written. That is why it is nice to recognize a theme one has covered in the past.

Today the country is experiencing a presidential election race unlike any race in modern times.  It has been long, loud and confusing, and shows little sign of calming down.  Depending on one’s political leanings, the two presumptive candidates are the greatest thing since sliced bread, or they are vying for the title of Antichrist.  Of course the current incumbent is already the Antichrist in the eyes of some and a savior in the eyes of others.  Which brings me to the point of this introduction.

Several years ago, “Historical Ignorance: Creeping Feudalism?” appeared on this site.  It may be even more appropriate today than it was then.  See what you think.
